After the flight lands, passengers will deplane and proceed to the arrival area. Arriving passengers will complete their arrival formalities, collect their check-in baggage, and leave the airport. Transit passengers will move to Transit Gate and complete departure formalities for their connecting flight.
Damaged Baggage
If a passenger receives a damaged check-in baggage on arrival, it must be reported to the airline for corrective action. The passenger is eligible for compensation due to service deficiency and mishandling of the baggage.
Baggage Not Received or Missing Baggage
If a passenger does not receive his check-in baggage on arrival for any reason, then it is considered a missing bag. The passenger is eligible for interim as well as final compensation. The airline must trace the missing baggage and deliver it to the passenger.
Baggage Not Loaded
Any baggage not loaded on the flight for any reason is considered as missing baggage. It can be due to security checks or due to restricted item in the baggage. The airline must clear the bag before departure and load it on the flight.
Arrival Passenger Process
Domestic Arrival
Passengers arriving by a domestic flight will collect their check-in bags and leave the airport. Passengers must check the condition of their bags for any damages before leaving the airport.
International Arrival
On an international flight arrival, passengers will have to complete Immigration check, Customs check, baggage claim and then exit the airport. Transit passengers will complete their transit checks and board their onward flight.
Transit Passenger Process
If arriving passengers are transiting domestic to domestic flight (D to D) and if their check-in bags are through checked-in, then they can pass through transit gate, complete transit security check, and proceed to boarding gate. If not through checked-in, passengers must collect their check-in bags, proceed to check-in counters, complete check-in formalities, then proceed for security check and boarding.
Domestic To International (D to I)
If arriving passengers are transiting domestic to international flight (D to I) and through checked-in, then they can pass through the transit gate, proceed to Emigration at the departure terminal, complete security check and proceed for boarding.
No Through Check-In
If arriving passengers are transiting domestic to international flight (D to I) and NOT through checked-in, then they must collect their check-in bags, proceed to check-in counters at departure terminal to complete check-in formalities. Then these passengers must complete Emigration check, security check and move to their designated boarding gate.
International To Domestic (I to D)
For arrival passengers transiting international to domestic flight (I to D), then it will be their first port of entry or first arriving airport in that country. Hence, these arrival passengers must collect their check-in bags, complete Immigration and Customs checks, handover the check-in bags to the domestic airline and proceed for security check and boarding.
International To International (I to I)
For international-to-international transit (I to I), passengers who have through checked-in will complete transit security check and proceed for boarding. Immigration and Emigration checks are not required in transit. For such passengers, Emigration is done at departure and Immigration is completed on arrival at the destination. However, to transit from some airports, a transit visa is required and must be obtained in advance before arrival.

For transit passengers in general, visa requirements, immigration, emigration, and customs checks are dependent on their nationality. Transit passengers must be aware and arrange for the specific travel documents, vaccination and medical reports required before traveling.
