Core Activities and Business

Civil Aviation activities include flight operations, passengers and cargo transportation, Air Taxi, Air Ambulance, VIP flights and Emergency Response flights during disasters and calamities.

Airport is the centre of Civil Aviation activities which provides the necessary infrastructure for passengers to travel by air, air cargo handling and for aircraft landing/take off. Airport activities are mainly managed by three entities – The Airport Operator/Owner, Airport Service Providers and Airlines.

Flight Operations

Flights are operated by Airlines and Charter Flight Operators to transport passengers from one place to another. Passengers travel by air for various reasons. Passengers can be corporate travellers, Students, Holidayers, Pilgrims, Tourists and many more.

Air Taxi and Air Ambulance are an important part of Civil Aviation catering to the needs of VIPs and Medical emergencies.

Cargo companies operate cargo flights or freighters designed to carry different types of cargo including equipment, vehicles, valuable cargo (precious metals, currency), perishables (fruits, vegetables, flowers and meat), medicines, live animals and courier.

Civil Aviation provides endless possibilities for travel to new places, meeting new people from different cultures and geographies, business relations and strengthening of relations and ties with other countries.

Based on passenger traffic, various flights are operated by airlines. Suitable types of aircraft are deployed for specific routes-Narrow Body or Wide Body aircraft.

Narrow Body aircraft with smaller passenger capacities are used for many frequencies in a day. Wide Body aircraft with larger capacities are deployed for long distance flights with one or more frequencies per day.

At the same time, for high density short and medium distance flights, Wide Body aircraft can be deployed along with Narrow Body aircraft. Similarly, on long distance routes with high passenger loads, Wide Body aircraft are operated with multiple frequencies in a day to manage high demand.

Challenges facing Civil Aviation

Civil Aviation is a highly capital-intensive industry. It is also highly regulated. High operating costs lead to high breakeven threshold. Hence, profitability is a big challenge.

Service Quality is always a challenge especially when more and more people prefer to travel by air. Quality training and staff retention are critical.

Any disaster, calamity or any sort of unrest has a direct and immediate impact on Civil Aviation.

And to end this blog

Civil Aviation is an important industry and preferred choice of the traveling public. Efficient Airport Operators, Airlines, Charter companies and Cargo facilities are necessary for comfortable, safe and secure air travel. Hence the development and growth of Civil Aviation industry is desirable.
